Big Sky Resort, MT Now Powered By Renewable Energy

Big Sky Renewable.jpg

Big Sky, MT let us know via twitter that they now run completely on renewable energy. The resort purchases Renewable Energy Credits that are equivalent to the energy consumption of running their 38 chairlifts.

Big Sky Resort is owned by a parent company called Boyne Resorts. Boyne owns and operates ski areas across the country in a number of different states. The are leading the way with operating ski resorts on renewable energy which we praise as without nature our favourite sport will be non-existent.

Notable properties include: Big Sky, Loon, Sugarloaf, Brighton, and Sunday River. Big Sky is Boyne’s largest, and most valuable asset amongst their resorts however with the other resorts they will be making quite the contribution.

Getting the resort to 100% renewable energy is a huge step towards their goal of reaching carbon net-neutrality by 2030.

Now Michael calls Melbourne home and spends as much time in the snow as physically possible with trips to Falls Creek, Hotham and Mt Buller throughout the winter season + a few weeks up north in either Canada, Japan or the USA once per season.

When Michael is not riding in the mountains, writing about ski resorts or deep diving into SEO, he is working hard as Digital Manager in the retail space, drinking coffee or training for a marathon.
