Mt. Hood Meadows

Situated on the south-eastern slopes of the towering Mt Hood is the Mount Hood Meadows ski resort. Home to the second largest ski resort in Oregon Mt Hood Meadows has some of the best lift infrastructure and the largest variety of terrain so when it comes to lift passes they can be a little more expensive than other resorts in the state. The trade off with that is that you are paying for quality.

Mt Hood Meadows does not have any on mountain lodging which means the resort operates as a day resort and not a standalone destination resort like those found in Colorado, Utah or California. Due to the proximity to Portland, OR the resort mostly operates as a commuter resort for the locals in Portland and can be accessed in under 1.5 hours with an easy 65mi drive from downtown Portland.

What really sets Mt Hood Meadows apart is the diversity in terrain and the ability to keep any rider challenged and happy, as well as ensuring that if there is groups or families of varying ability riders can split off and make the most of the terrain on offer to their skill set. As well as offering the second longest vertical drop at 2,777ft (846m) in the state Mt Hood Meadows has some of the most challenging and expert inbounds riding. Heather Canyon and Clark Canyon are extreme only zones where riders must enter via the gates due to the avalanche risk. These two canyons are an absolute powder paradise after a great storm and the gullies and chutes are unmatched.
