Cardrona Alpine Resort Trail Map

Before your next visit to Cardrona Alpine Resort check out the trail map. Cardrona might be the home to alpine snow adventures and offer up the most serious terrain park however there is also an exceptional ski resort with a large focus on family fun.

If you are a beginner, take a look at what parts of the resort are graded green for you. There is a dedicated beginner zone tucked away from the rest of the resort and then plenty of other green options found all over the resort.

Intermediate riders will find intermediate blue ski runs covering majority of the snow resort and they are spoilt for choice as every single region has blue runs including the new Willow Basin area which opened in 2021.

Advanced and expert riders will find the most challenging terrain at the edges of the resort near the Captain’s Express Quad and the lower part of Cardrona ski area around the Valley View Quad chair.

Skiers right in the new Willows Basin area which has opened in the 2021 season is jam packed full of advanced and expert non groomed terrain. This area typically fills in mid to late august as it requires natural snow to cover the area to make it rideable.

Cardrona Alpine Resort Ski Runs & Trails

With a base altitude of 1260m (4134 ft) and a summit altitude of 1860m (6102 ft) Cardrona offers a vertical drop of 600m (1968 ft) which means long and spaced out trails for all kind of riders. The southerly faced aspect of the resort means the snowpack holds well all throughout the season and late into October.    

25% of the terrain is graded for beginners which makes Cardrona a great place to learn how to ride. Whether its families getting their little ones onto snow for the first time or adult beginners the dedicated beginner area and exceptional Cardrona Ski school this resort is great for progression. Once you are feeling confident you can board the Mcdougalls Chondola (grab a gondola cabin) and then slide down Westons Trail and Skyline which offer sweeping views all the way down to Queenstown. 

Intermediate riders will really love Cardrona, 50% of the resort gives all riders plenty of options when it comes to choosing their adventure for the day. Making your way out to the Captains Express quad chair will provide you with more than enough intermediate runs of all types of terrain. Nice sharp groomers such as Highway 89 slide from the top of the chair down to the bottom and offer sweeping views of the opposite mountain range and the gullies below Captain’s Café. For those looking for more of a challenge can make the long journey from the top of the Whitestar Express Quad to the bottom of the Valley View Quad by zooming down ridge rider and tail race.

Advanced and Expert riders have plenty of options to challenge themselves with 25% of the resort dedicated to black runs. Most of the black runs can be found lower in the resort off the side of the Valley View Quad. Allowing the snow to form natural terrain challenges like chutes and gullies these runs will keep you coming back for more. For those looking to really earn their turns the Arcadia basin, valley and Chutes will test the best of riders.

Cardrona has acquired the neighbouring Soho Basin and in 2021 expanded the ski resort into the new Willow Basin. Along with this new terrain being added Cardrona ski area opened a new Quad chairlift in the Willows Basin.
