Expert riders looking for a challenge will need to hike up to Guthries Chutes.

Charlotte Pass Ski Runs & Trails

Charlotte Pass resort offers a great variety of runs for the whole family.

With 20% of the resort being allocated to green runs this is the perfect place for anyone wanting to learn how to ride to get started. Its unique and isolated location means that it’s not an overly busy resort and most of the runs remain wide open. Families can learn together otherwise parents can leave their children with the fantastic ski school whilst the parents go in search of the more challenging terrain.

Whilst being small Charlotte Pass still has some great intermediate trails to keep everyone happy. 70% of the resort is classified as blue runs and they range from drawn out groomers to intricate tree runs. Being a lot higher than the other resorts Charlotte Pass gets better natural snowfall and gliding through the snow gums is a once in a lifetime experience.

Whilst only 10% of the trails are classified as advanced to extreme they are a great 10%. Most of the runs down the face that the Kosciuszko Triple chair climbs are advanced runs with a run called Avalanche being the longest. A small hike will take keen riders up to the top of the Kangaroo Ridge cornice where in the peak of winter and early spring this cornice can at times become a vertical drop into a black run. The Kosciuszko Triple chair is a great place to watch everyone drop in as it climbs the hill.

On the opposite side of the resort is a small area called the Guthries Chutes, hiking is required to access this complex part of the resort, but the hike is well worth it for these technical chutes. These chutes run out into Lenny’s leap which is another black run that will take you down to the base of the Guthries high speed poma.

There is a small terrain park which is set up and managed by the Charlottes Pass snow grooming crew. It has a range of features mostly suited to children and teenagers who are looking for a bit of a challenge. Anyone looking for a real terrain park thrill should look to visit Perisher or Thredbo resorts.
