Telluride
Telluride ski resorts is home to some of the wildest and most extreme inbound terrain as well as the second longest lift serviced vertical drop in Colorado. Initially home to an extremely colourful mining history the mountain town has been pumping since it was first founded in 1878. As the mining boom moved from many parts of the country the town was left wondering what they could possibly continue forth with to ensure visitors continued to make the journey into the mountains. In 1972 the first ski left was installed, and it’s been non-stop growth ever since.
During the 1980s Telluride ski resorts gained a reputation as Colorado’s best-kept secret which inadvertently made it ski resorts in Telluride quickly become a must visit destination. Fast forward to today and the mountain resort is a world-class year-round destination which well-heeled families and riders looking for extreme mountains flock each winter.
Telluride ski resorts is expansive with over 2,000 acres of terrain which is average when compared to other Colorado ski resorts. The mountain resort is able to quickly get riders out to the far corners of the resort thanks to an impressive lift network which includes multiple high-speed gondolas and a collection of high-speed quad lifts which swiftly lift riders out of the base areas. One impressive aspect of Telluride ski resorts is the journey from the historic mining town up into the mountain village where riders load onto a gondola and get to sit back and enjoy the sweeping views of the surrounding San Juan Mountain range as they are lifted into the resort.
Whilst we have mentioned the extreme terrain a lot that’s not everything Telluride ski resorts has to offer, and the resort has great riding for beginners and intermediates as 59% of the terrain is graded green and blue. Intermediate riders will really appreciate the exceptionally groomed runs where you can really push the limits of your carving skills whilst soaking up some of the best views in the country.
Lodging and accommodation in Telluride ski resorts can be found at the mountain village base or down in the town. The town is packed full of historic charm and has a great collection of high-end stores and bars and restaurants which provide great après options as you come off the mountain. The mountain village base region is newer with plenty of hotels and lodges that offer ski in and ski out accommodation.

The Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) is the primary airport for Telluride, and is a scenic 65 miles away. During the winter months, guests can take advantage of nonstop flights from 10 major hubs, and summer offers nonstop service from 5 major U.S. cities. Several transportation companies provide service from Telluride to Montrose. Rental cars are also available at the Montrose Airport, but we recommend the ground transportation option as once you arrive in Telluride, a car is unnecessary.

The 23/24 winter season was the polar opposite to the 22/23 season in by way of the fact that there was far less snowfall across the whole country. We take a look at which resorts in United States saw the largest snowfall during the 23/24 winter season.
