Vail Ski Resort

Whether its sitting in an après scene or a supermarket in the mountains, if people are talking about ski resorts there is a high chance that skiing at Vail will at some point be a part of the conversations. Resorts around the world fail to reach legendary status without good reason and luckily for Vail they really have it all. Massive terrain, an extremely efficient lift system, insane vertical, a booming township where the fun kicks on well after the sun goes down thanks to a vibrant après scene. Vail has really set the standard for what it means to be a “ski resort” in North America.

The mountain got its first beginnings as a resort over 60 years ago in 1962 and was named after Charles Vail who was the designer of the highway that passed through the Vail Pass. Ever since then the resort has continued to grow and grow and is now one of the largest ski resorts in the country with over 5,200 acres of terrain and that’s not even counting the infinite lines of off-piste terrain that can be found inside the boundaries and in the side country.

To get around all the skiing at vail you need some great lifts and Vail has that sorted with 31 lifts which include 2 gondolas, 3 high speed six packs and 15 high speed quad chairs. This makes the skiing at Vail not only epic but an incredible experience.

One thing that really sets ski Vail apart from the rest and no doubt keeps visitors coming back for the skiing at Vail must be the Legendary Back Bowls which are 7 high alpine bowls which span seven miles across the backside of the resort. This is where most of the terrain is found with this region taking up over 3,000 acres of terrain and it’s really where the skiing at Vail gets good.

Rounding out all the positive aspects of Vail must be the access that can be obtained thanks to the Epic Pass which provides unlimited access to Vail as well as neighbouring resorts such as Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone, and that’s just some of the options in Colorado. The Epic pass can give you global access to the mountain and is more cost effective than single day lift passes which can sometimes pass $200USD during the holiday season.
