Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain is self-named the Peak of Vancouver and we can see why, towering above the downtown district the ski resort is a great option for the locals of Canada’s second biggest city. Grouse Mountain is the second largest ski resort above Vancouver just inching in-front of Mt Seymour by 7 hectares.

Offering up 200 acres of rideable terrain, a 10m/32ft annual snowfall, 5 lifts and 41 trails, Grouse Mountain will keep any local or visitor to Vancouver happy. Grouse Mountain is a great place to learn how to ride on either skis or a snowboard and certainly excels in the family department. Whilst the kiddies are in ski school the parents can get out to explore the resort and with 18% of the resort graded for advanced riders which also includes three double black diamond runs.

Being a ski resort 20 minutes from the centre of Vancouver there is no need to offer overnight accommodation as all the amenities of any traveller can be found in the central business district or suburbs of Vancouver.

Once up in the resort the Greenway fixed grip chair complements the magic carpets to cover the beginner area of the resort. Beginners ready to try out their skills will naturally migrate to the ‘The Cut’ which is an award-winning ski run offering sweeping views of downtown Vancouver and the surrounding harbour. The Screaming Eagle high speed quad will allow all riders to make laps of this incredible ski run.

Riders looking for are likely to spend their day over in Blueberry bowl which is serviced by the Olympic Express chair and offers 16 blue, black and double black options. This chair is great for lapping after a good snowfall has hit the resort.

Grouse Mountain Snow

Vancouver Grouse Mountain gets over 10m (32ft) of fresh snowfall each season and the mountain grooming team know exactly what do with it. Being located directly on the harbour and low elevation means the fresh snow is thicker and stickier than the BC resorts found on the powder highway, however, remember this is a local city ski resort.

Powder days can be found at Vancouver Grouse Mountain a number of times throughout the season and we know that everyone will be calling in sick for those days and getting up to the chairlift at 9am. As they say, the early bird gets the worm or in this case – the powder turns.

Where is Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain resort is the most easily accessible ski resort in Canada! There are no winding roads, no vehicle chains required, and the metro bus drops you at the front door of the tramway for a very low cost. Within 15-20 minutes you can get from downtown Vancouver to the base of the resort and be riding in another 5 minutes.

All riders visiting the resort will need to make their own way to and from the resort each day whether that is by car or public transport as there is no overnight accommodation available at the resort.

Those looking to fly into the region should look to fly into Vancouver International airport where they can take a shuttle or train to downtown Vancouver and beyond to their accommodation.
